Listen, Listen! Whats that sound? Insects singing all around.

Chirrup, Chirrup, Buzz, Buzz

Listen, Listen! Winter's gone! Pop, Pop bulbs sprout

Leaves grow and flowers shout.

All the children are gathered around after the story and Mrs. Ali handed out their field studies journals. They were busy drawing and coloring. Mrs. Ali suggested they make some invitations to celebrate spring!! Today is spring's birthday. Happy First day of Spring!

An impromtu adventure of collecting nature materials to make a cake!

C and A even found chocolate icing!

Next, Mrs. Ali passed out clipboards, flowers and magnifying glasses.

The kids started working on taking the flowers apart and examined them.

She started talking about the parts of the flower -

Leaves catch the sunlight and turn it into sugar. They use the sugar for energy.

Energy to GROW!! - Energy to grow taller and and make beautiful blooms.

What are flowers for? The kids responded for smelling, holding and looking.

They are so pretty and smell so good - "What likes to smell and see the flowers?"

Birds, bees and butterflies!

Inside of the flower there is pollen, that might make you go ACHOO!

Pollen gets all over beest and butterflies. They fly from one flower to the next, sharing the pollen.

Bees and butterflies don't go to flowers and get pollen on purpose, their purpose is something else. What are they looking for?

They see the flowers with their compound eyes and use their proboscis to suck the nectar out of the flower.

NaturePlay was coming to a close. What wonderful adventures on such a puddly and beautiful first day of spring.
